Undocumented persons and security
Thailand is not a signatory country to the 1951 Refugee Convention, therefore, there is no domestic laws in relation to refugee rights protection in place, so residents without a documents have been arrested and sent back to Myanmar. Therefore, you must be careful about going out with your security priority.
- Be careful about travelling outside of your area. Police or other security forces can be arrested everywhere.
- To go outside of your area only for basic needs, food, personal appliances, and health services
- Let your family or friends know your whereabout.
- Be careful about giving your personal documents such as ID card or Passport to other people.
- Beware of Illegal Smuggling.
- If it is necessary to go outside, you should check whether there are arrests from reliable information sources, organizations, and other social media.
- Do not drive a motorcycle or car while intoxicated.
- Avoid going out late at night.
- Thai people can report to the Thai police if you are making too much noise in your place of residence.
- Working without legal documents can also result in arrest.
- Doing business without a valid business permit document can also result in arrest.
